The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr D. Maher, that Mr N. McParlan, rider of Hemlock (GB), placed fourth, had weighed in at 1.4 lbs light. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he arrived very late and had gone to the bathroom after weighing out. Mr T. Gibney, trainer, confirmed that he saddled his charge with the tack as presented to him. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Mr N. McParlan was in breach of Rule 231 (i) by failing to draw the correct weight and in accordance with the provisions of this Rule, Hemlock (GB) was disqualified.
