Permission was given for Texting (GB) to wear a red hood to the start and for Jack The Truth (IRE) to wear a red hood in the Parade Ring only.
Further permission was given for both Young Tiger (GB) and Lomu (IRE) to go early to post.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Fairy Stories (GB), ridden by Tony Hamilton, which was held up in the rear of the field, appearing to travel smoothly through the middle part of the race before being asked for an effort approaching the final furlong to finish twelfth of thirteen, beaten by 8 lengths.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post- race examination revealed the filly was stiff in front and had a swollen joint on its left-fore.
The rider stated his instructions were to jump well and sit handy.
He explained that despite being outpaced in the early stages Fairy Stories (GB) then travelled strongly into the race but he was unable to ask the filly for an effort due to being trapped behind a wall of horses approximately two furlongs out.
He further added that when a gap did present itself, Fairy Stories (GB) failed to pick up as well as he’d hoped which may have been due to the filly feeling the Good to Firm ground on this occasion.
His explanations were noted.
