The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Jack Holiday, ridden by Mr R.W. Barron, and trained by John F. Gleeson. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. Mr R.W. Barron stated that he was instructed to ride his mount as he thought best. On his last run in Ballinrobe, Jack Holiday ran free and in Mr
Barron's opinion it was best to drop him in at the rear, get his jumping settled and finish in the best possible position. Mr. Barron stated that his mount ran free early on, settled after the third hurdle, got a good run on the final circuit however blew up turning into the bend and if he had been pushed on sooner he may not have finished as close as he did. Mr. Barron stated that he normally rides winners from off the pace and he was satisfied that he gave his mount a strong ride and finished in the best possible position. John F. Gleeson confirmed the instructions given to Mr. Barron and added that his charge would prefer a longer trip, possibly 2 1/2 miles, and is a difficult horse to train. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Jack Holiday was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
