Leaving the stalls, He's So Brazen (GB), unplaced, jumped right-handed making contact with Laoch Gach La (GB), placed third, which then lugged quickly right-handed hampering Garlogie (GB), unplaced, which in turn tightened Floats On Air (GB), unplaced, onto Ilona Tamara (FR), unplaced, which was inconvenienced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Approaching 2 furlongs out, Laconic (GB), placed fourth, was switched right handed to avoid the heels of a weakening Floats On Air (GB), unplaced, slightly crowding up Cittone (GB), placed sixth, which in turn left Twistaline (GB), placed fifth, tightened for racing room between runners when Shabs (GB), placed second, also edged marginally left-handed from its outside, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Laconic (GB).
The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Measured Moments (GB) which had never previously been placed, was considered.
John Butler, the trainer was interviewed.
His comments that the filly had benefited from a change of tactics to being dropped out early, which served to ensure she settled better on this occasion having previously ran too free, were noted and Measured Moments (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, Jason Watson reported that Laconic (GB), placed fourth, hung both ways and Joey Haynes reported that Floats On Air (GB), unplaced, ran too free.
