The Stewards noted that rounding the bend after the winning post on the penultimate circuit, Cam Hardie's left rein snapped on Root Sixty Six (GB), unplaced, which resulted in the gelding losing ground and running very wide.

This placed Hardie at a distinct disadvantage for the next 2 furlongs, before he was ultimately able to regather the broken rein and regain some form of control over Root Sixty Six (GB).

Having inspected the bridle used on Root Sixty Six (GB), the Stewards were satisfied that it had been in a serviceable condition.

Approximately 2½ furlongs out, Williamwilberforce (GB), unplaced, became unbalanced when cornering and shifted right-handed, hampering Blue Beret (GB), placed third, by carrying it wider, which in turn inconvenienced a weakening Izar (GER), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Dancing Master (IRE), compared with its previous run at Windsor on 8 August 2021 where the gelding finished eighth of nine runners, beaten by 5 ½ lengths on Heavy ground was considered.

The representative of Roger Teal explained that Dancing Master (IRE) had appreciated the step up in trip to 2 miles and 1/2 a furlong, whilst also benefitting from a sounder surface on this occasion.

His comments were noted and the gelding was routine tested.

Following the race, Callum Hutchinson reported that Barca (USA), placed sixth, hung badly right-handed.
