The Stewards interviewed K.P. Moriarty, rider of Prince Jock (USA), placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Albert Moriarty, trainer of Prince Jock (USA) accompanied K.P. Moriarty at this enquiry. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that K.P. Moriarty was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency and consequently severely cautioned him having taken his previous record into consideration. G.J. Phillips, rider of Hurricane Twister trained by V.Clifford, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount travelled well but failed to pick up when pressure was applied.
