D.P. McDonogh, rider of Beau Satchel (GB) trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was forced to check badly shortly after start. The Stewards enquired into an incident shortly after jumping from stalls involving Beau Satchel (GB), ridden by D.P. McDonogh, Golden Shoe, ridden by K.J. Manning, Romantic, ridden by C.R. King, and Myamo, ridden by G.J. Phillips, where it appeared Beau Satchel (GB) suffered interference and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion C.R. King was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and after taking his record into account, they suspended him for 2 racedays. The Stewards received a report from Mr W.F. Fleming, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that G.J. Phillips, rider of Myamo, weighed in at 1.7 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that having weighed out 1lb overweight at 8st which was his minimum riding weight, he had a drink and something to eat, which contributed to him weighing in a further 1.7lb overweight. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion G.J. Phillips was in breach of Rule 231, and after taking his record into account, they suspended him for 1 raceday.
An extended handicap for four yrs old and upwards rated 47-75 Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won.
