Permission was given for Smeaton's Light (IRE) to be led to the start early wearing a red hood.
The Starter reported that Boafo Boy (GB) was the subject of a third criteria failure.
Jamie Osborne was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
As this was the second occasion within the previous twelve months that Boafo Boy (GB) had been reported, a further report within the same period would mean the gelding would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.
Billy Garritty, the rider of Buckshaw Village (FR), drawn 1, was slow to remove the blindfold, resulting in the gelding being slowly away.
Garritty’s explanation that the blind was stuck on the bridle and took two attempts to remove was noted.
Upon leaving the stalls, Aussie Banker (GB), placed third, lugged right-handed bumping Poet (GB), placed fifth, which in turn hampered Giewont (IRE), placed sixth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Aussie Banker (GB).
Following the race, Frederick Larson reported that Giewont (IRE), placed sixth, suffered interference when leaving the stalls.
