The Raceday Stewards interviewed J. Smith, rider of Moonovercloon, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he had used his whip excessively and was of the opinion that he started using his whip too early in the closing stages. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that J. Smith was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record (first offence,) they suspended him for four racedays
K. Callaghan, rider of The Big Doyen, trained by Peter Fahey, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran too keen
P.K. Donovan, rider of Thecompanysergeant (GB), trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount suffered interference passing the stable yard on the final circuit. The Raceday Stewards reviewed this incident and were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
