Approximately 5 furlongs out, Glory Hallelujah (IRE), placed fourth, shifted quickly right-handed giving a nudge to Gidwa (IRE), placed sixth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Glory Hallelujah (IRE).

The performance of Gidwa (IRE), which started favourite and finished sixth, beaten by 21¾ lengths, was considered.

It was noted that the representative of Kevin Philippart de Foy could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance on this occasion other than a report from the rider that Gidwa (IRE) lugged left- handed under pressure and stopped quickly.

The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The winner, The Dunkirk Lads (GB) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at York on 22 May 2022 where the gelding finished last of twenty-one, beaten by 32¼ lengths.

The representative of Tim Easterby’s explanation that The Dunkirk Lads (GB) appreciated the drop in class from Class 4 to Class 5 on this occasion, was noted.

The gelding was routine tested.

Following the race, John Fahy reported that Applaud Now (GB), placed second, was restless in the stalls.
