An enquiry was held at Hamilton on Wednesday 15 June 2022, adjourned from Carlisle on Monday 13 June 2022, into the circumstances surrounding why Shalaa Asker (GB), drawn 4, ridden by Ryan Sexton, jumped from the stalls with the stall handler’s lead rope still attached.
The Starter was interviewed and Sexton and the Stalls Team Leader gave evidence via telephone.
The Stalls Team Leader explained that the lead rope became trapped as the gelding was loaded into the stalls and it was unable to be removed before the stalls opened and Sexton explained that although Shalaa Asker (GB) had been slowly away he did not believe the incident had affected the gelding’s finishing position of fifth place.
Their explanations were noted.
Following the race, David Allan reported that Kodiellen (IRE), unplaced, hung both ways.
Faye McManoman reported that Strangerontheshore (GB), placed third, was denied a clear run 2 furlongs out.
