Permission was given for FLEUR DE MMER (IRE) and Queen Of Sparta (USA) to both wear a red hood to the start.
Ben Robinson, the rider of Elshaameq (GB), placed fourth, had appeared to drop his hands on the run in to the line to be beaten a short head for third place.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Robinson’s explanation that the gelding was hanging badly right-handed and that in his opinion Barrolo (GB), placed third, was finishing very strongly and had already passed him when he stopped riding, shortly before the line, was noted.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching 2 furlongs out involving Glory Nights (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Mark Winn; Western Beat (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Joanna Mason and Queen Of Sparta (USA), unplaced, ridden by Cieren Fallon.
The interference was found to be accidental as Fallon edged slightly right-handed influencing Winn’s mount slightly off its intended line at the same time as Mason aimed her mount into a narrowing gap causing Western Beat (IRE) to become unbalanced again the rail.
Approaching 2 furlongs out the winner, Fleur De Mer (IRE), hung quickly right-handed causing the rider of Buckshaw Village (FR), unplaced, to switch left-handed off heels giving a bump to Mercurius Power (IRE), placed fifth, resulting in Danielsflyer (IRE), unplaced, becoming short of room.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Fleur De Mer (IRE).
Following the race, Ben Robinson reported that Elshaameq (GB), placed fourth, hung badly right-handed and ran too free.
Sam James reported that Barrolo (GB), placed third, was denied a clear run approximately 2 furlongs out.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Western Beat (IRE), unplaced, was showing signs of mild post-race heat stress.
