It was a bad race but it’s nice to get his head in front. I’m not sure what we’ll do. I suppose we’ll see what the handicapper does but his jumping will need to improve. The Stewards reviewed an incident after the final hurdle involving Five Helmets, ridden by J.M. Moore, and Tech Talk, ridden by K.M. Donoghue. Having reviewed the recording and considered the matter the Stewards decided that no further action was warranted
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Sparkling Stars (FR), ridden by K.J. Brouder, and trained by Eoin Christopher McCarthy. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. K.J. Brouder, stated that his instructions were to give his mount a little light. He was free last time out. Today he got the horse relaxed, he was caught flat-footed from five furlongs out and got into his stride past beaten horses in the straight. He summed up by stating that this is a big, raw, babyish horse who stands 18hh. Eoin Christopher McCarthy, confirmed the instructions given to the rider and expressed his satisfaction with the ride given. He stated that the horse ran free last time out. He didn't want the horse buried in company today and didn't want him to jump into others but for the rider to move out when coming to a hurdle. Today he felt he got settled. When the horses in front quickened he was caught as he's babyish. As regards the future he hoped he'd be good enough to win a maiden hurdle this season if the ground doesn't dry out too much. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Sparkling Stars (FR) was post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations given.
