A query was raised to consider why Richard Price was running Bellevarde (IRE) here at Yarmouth on going described as Good to Firm, Good in places, having previously declared the mare a non-runner at Chepstow on 21 June 2021 on ground with the same official description.
Price stated that after walking the track today and considering the overnight rain combined with limited options available for Bellevarde (IRE) in the near future, he was happy for the mare to take her chance.
Approaching the final furlong, Faregaan (GB), placed seventh, shifted marginally right-handed away from the whip, giving a slight bump to Sugar Dumpling (IRE), unplaced, causing the filly to become unbalanced and in turn make contact again with Faregaan (GB), which also became unbalanced as a result.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Faregaan (GB).
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Needwood Blossom (GB), placed sixth, lost its right- hind shoe.
Jason Watson reported that Radrizzani (GB), placed eighth, was slowly away and the representative of David O’Meara reported that the filly did not face the first time tongue-strap on this occasion.
