Shortly after the start, a free-running Mudawwan (IRE), placed seventh, edged marginally left-handed, causing Apachito (GB), unplaced, to become unbalanced for several strides, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Mudawwan (IRE).
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line when the winner, De Bruyne Horse (GB), ridden by Phil Dennis, interfered with Mister Freeze (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by David Probert.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved De Bruyne Horse (GB)’s placing as the interference occurred shortly before the line and the distance between the two horses was a length.
The interference was found to be accidental as De Bruyne Horse (GB) had persisted in shifting right-handed despite the best efforts of Dennis to ensure the gelding kept straight, resulting in Probert having to take a check.
Following the race, Nicky Mackay reported that Fly True (GB), unplaced, weakened quickly 2 furlongs out; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than the mare had lost its right-fore shoe.
