An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Astra Via (GB), ridden by Adam Wedge and trained by Evan Williams, which was apparently tenderly ridden before finishing seventh of twelve, beaten 24½ lengths.
The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination found the filly to be lame on her right-fore.
The rider stated that his instructions were to drop the filly in and give her every opportunity.
He added that he had made his effort after the fourth last hurdle but she was a big green filly and she was unbalanced coming down the hill leaving the back straight.
He further added that he had made another effort between the third and second last, but the filly was very green.
The trainer confirmed that the ride was in accordance with his instructions and he was satisfied with the ride given.
Their explanations were noted.

Following the race, the representative of David Dennis reported that Veiled Secret (IRE), placed sixth, was unsuited by the going, which was officially described as Soft on this occasion and would prefer a quicker surface.
