The Stewards received a report from Ms. Joan Taylor, IHRB Veterinary Officer, in relation to the identity of Arlecchino's Rock (GB),trained by Dermot Anthony McLoughlin, a declared runner in this race. Ms Taylor stated that the passport for Arlecchino's Rock was lodged as required by rule but the horse presented did not correspond with the markings in the passport and therefore she was unable to positively identify the animal. Noel Clarke, groom for Dermot Anthony McLoughlin acknowledged that he was not an Authorised representative for the trainer but did a lot of raceday work for him. He stated that the trainer was racing at Tramore and alternative transport was used for this animal. He believed that the late arrival of the transport vehicle caused him to mistakenly bring the wrong animal to the races and the matter was solely his error. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards in compliance with the provisions of Rule 90 (vi) ordered the withdrawal of Arlecchino's Rock and referred the matter to a Senior Racing Official for investigation. Furthermore, the Stewards imposed a fine of ?130 on Dermot Anthony McLoughlin for failing to have an Authorised representative available to attend this enquiry, this being a breach of Rule 147 (v)
The Stewards enquired into an incident leaving the back straight involving Three Majors, ridden by G.M. Ryan, unplaced, Coach Bombay, ridden by S.M. Crosse, unplaced and Toffee Tart (GB), ridden by G.P. Brouder, unplaced, where it appeared that Toffee Tart (GB) got tightened while racing close to the rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that any interference caused was accidental in nature and therefore took no further action
G.P. Brouder, rider of Toffee Tart (GB) trained by Mrs Ann Mooney, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was badly hampered on leaving the back straight.
