Leaving the stalls the winner, Puchita (IRE), jumped right hampering Kommander Kirkup (GB), unplaced, which in turn bumped Le Manege Enchante, placed sixth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Puchita (IRE).
Rounding the final bend, Northern Queen (IRE), placed seventh, edged right inconveniencing Badger Berry (GB), placed fourth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching 2 furlongs out involving Northern Queen (IRE), placed seventh, ridden by Ben Robinson; Carlovian (GB), placed eighth, ridden by Dougie Costello and Badger Berry (GB), placed fourth, ridden by William Carson.
Robinson was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right away from the whip without correction causing Badger Berry (GB) to be significantly checked off the heels of Carlovian (GB).
Harry Russell, the rider of the winner, Puchita (IRE), was suspended for 2 days for using his whip in the incorrect place on the run to the line.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Russell was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry, but declined.
Following the race, William Carson reported that Badger Berry (GB), placed fourth, was denied a clear run approximately 2 furlongs out.
William Cox reported that Jazz Legend (USA), unplaced, stopped quickly and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
