The Stewards requested a report from S.J.Mahon, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Carrig Cathal (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent form. S.J. Mahon stated that this was his charges third run from his yard. In his first run, Carrig Cathal was unknown to him and jumped badly. In his last run at Fairyhouse, S.J
Mahon fitted a tongue tie for the first time and expected a better run from his charge however he stopped quickly on heavy, difficult conditions. In the opinion of S.J. Mahon, today's shorter distance suited his charge better and explained his improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered
