FormscanBy Mark Nunan - The form of JAZZAWAY’S second run over hurdles at Naas last month has been well-franked, and she can get off the mark here. The sister to Cheltenham Bumper and Grade One novice hurdle winner Briar Hill was a debut winner of a Sligo bumper last August, before finishing third at Wexford on her hurdles bow. She stepped up a good bit on that initial effort over obstacles when behind stablemate Tiger Tap Tap and Home By The Lee last time out, and those two have both scored since the turn of the year. Flying Risk won a fair summer bumper at Limerick, beating a couple of next-time-out winners, before finishing a well-beaten sixth on her first outing in these colours in a Listed bumper at Huntingdon. She has been taken out a couple of times because of testing ground, including from her intended hurdles debut at Clonmel on Thursday, so connections will be hoping that the ground doesn’t deteriorate too much. Strange Notions has a rating that should make her competitive, and she’d been off eight months before chasing home Drury here at the New Year’s Day meeting, so is entitled to have come on for the run. She’s gone close on the Flat a couple of times as well, and her experience over hurdles (five runs under her belt) should give her an edge over the likes of Bold Pearl and The Girl That Sang, who have shown ability in bumpers.
