FormscanBy Mark Nunan - Plenty of quirky characters in the line-up but KENDANCER is not one of them and Charles Byrnes' charge comes here in a consistent vein of form. The eight-year-old won back-to-back claiming hurdles at Limerick and Sligo and had a good run on the Flat a day after his latest hurdles victory. He's back up in trip here but that shouldn't be an issue. Broken Ice was picked up by John McConnell after chasing home the selection at Sligo. A winner over fences, that was his first run over the smaller obstacles for a couple of years and he can contend again. Dollar Value gave a bright display when second in a Downpatrick handicap and has to come into calculations.

Darragh (O'Keeffe, on Bold Emperor) knew my horse and I'd say he was just trying to take it off him down the back to see would it sicken him, but my fella just kept taking it out of him with his jumping. He's in a great vein of form at the moment. Keith is a great horseman and he jumped great for him again today. He'll be well up in the weights after this so we'll go for the Grade 2 at Gowran Park in early October. He's match fit and some horses in that will be coming back from a break. We have to have a go at something like that at this stage. The ground was too deep for him the last day, he sulked a bit and pulled himself up. He is only a small horse and the deep ground was probably tough on him. We gave him a nice break after that and he was good and fresh coming here today. We thought he might need the run and he hadn't been working great at home, he was keeping plenty for himself. It's great that he went and did that on the track anyway and it's great for the syndicate. Some of the them are away and some are working, so there is only a few of them here today. He'll be kept going for the summer now. I had my first jumps winner here and I think that's 12 winners overall now - my first season with a licence. It was a bit of a surprise as I didn't think he was up to that as there were a few fair horses in it but I'm delighted for the young fella after getting a fall in the previous race. He had a good run behind Desertmore House in a beginners' chase last year at Kilbeggan and the (heavy) ground made up for today's lesser distance. That's three winners in three days, the horses are flying. This horse seems to be improving with me but he has to have a bit of nice ground,. Over the last couple of days we are getting better weather and my horses are running well again. When the ground went soft I didn't even enter horses. It's great for his owner Seamus Tobin, he is a good owner of mine for the last few years. He is not entered up anywhere, so we'll see.
