That was a nice surprise. He is a nice horse and was that when he was younger, but we've had to be patient. I was wrong with him last year and was training him too hard at home and couldn't keep condition on him. We've taken our time this time around so wasn't sure how fit he was but conditions suited and it was an ideal race to start off in. As big as he is, he just flicks along on the ground so once the ground is safe, he'll be out all summer. The Stewards enquired into the riding of Butte Montana, ridden by R.J. Condon who fell at the last in this race

Evidence was heard from R. Condon who stated that the horse had made a mistake at the previous fence but recovered and he felt he had enough forward momentum to attempt jumping the last. He added that his mount jumped the fence fine but stumbled on landing and fell. Having viewed the video footage and considered the evidence, the Stewards took no further action other than to remind R. Condon to be more mindfull in future of his riding in this regard.

(Qualified Riders are excluded from riding in this race) Horses that do not have a published handicap hurdle rating but are eligible for a handicap hurdle rating may enter and run provided their hurdle rating is 116 or less at time of entry
