That is great to get one over Christmas and this is a massive one for us to win. This race was his plan the whole way along but we had hoped to get a run into him first so I was slightly worried being without a run today. He was in at Fairyhouse the last day over hurdles but I wasn't happy with how 'tight' the ground was so took him out. . He scraped in at the bottom of the weights today.

He is qualified for the Full Circle Series Qualifier at the Punchestown festival and I don't really want to go back over hurdles before then. We were taking a chance running him over two miles, but there was plenty pace in the race, he jumped well and saw it out. We'll pick another race for him and his main aim is the race at Punchestown.

we were hoping he'd do something like that last time at Listowel but he made a mistake at the first and it was game over. It was his first run over fences for a while and he probably just took a chance at it, being a bit gassy. I'm delighted he finally got his head in front for us. We had him ready for the wrong time of the year as he wants soft ground - we tried to pick our races with him for that reason. Hopefully he'll kick on now over the winter and give a good account again. We'll see what the handicapper does with him over hurdles but his main aim will probably be back chasing.

He’s probably not a natural hurdler, he doesn’t seem to have a lot of respect for them, and I’d say that’s what cost him last week. But he came out of it very well and we said we’d run him back again seven days later, off his mark. His future lies over fences, and I’d say he’ll go back over them now for a novice handicap off 110.
