We thought we were beaten and looking at the photo finish he had his head to the floor, he dipped his head at the right time. He's a magical horse to have, a Galway festival winner, and for two small teams like ourselves to come down here and have a winner like that is brilliant. We'll enjoy it together. He was keen the whole way but we're down in Galway, we've had our winner and it's brilliant. He'll probably go on a bit of a holiday now as he's after having three quick runs. The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Fancy A Cosmo, trained by R.P.Cody, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be lame on his left fore post race

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident inside the final one hundred and fifty yards involving Shanwalla, ridden by D.J Gilligan, placed third, and Moonovercloon, ridden by J. Smith, placed fourth, where it appeared that Shanawalla received a bump from Moonovercloon who was trying to challenge between horses. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, D.J. Gilligan stated that he was maintaining his racing line when receiving a bump from Moonovercloon who was about three quarters of a length down and trying to challenge through a small gap. J. Smith stated that his mount had got his head into a gap but it closed and he took back out of it. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found that J. Smith was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered his record in this regard, the Raceday Stewards cautioned J. Smith on this occasion.

An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards (123 = 11st 12lbs)
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
