The Stewards enquired into an incident on the downhill run about three furlongs from the finish involving The Big Lense, ridden by K. Brogan, placed fifth, On Call, ridden by S.A. Shortall, placed fourth, Shetland Bus (GER), ridden by B.J. Cooper, placed sixth and Bridies Boy, ridden by P.T. Enright, unplaced, where it appeared that Bridies Boy ran short of room when racing close to the running rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was caused by S.A. Shortall riding carelessly, this being a breach of Rule 214. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended S.A. Shortall for 2 racedays.
