I.J. McCarthy, rider of Celtic Passion trained by D. T. Hughes, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a respiratory noise in running. The Stewards interviewed A. Ring, rider of Diamondgeezer Luke, winner, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion A. Ring was in breach of Regulation 10 3 (g) in that he used his whip with his arm above shoulder height, and having taken his record into account, they suspended him for 2 racedays and ordered that he attend RACE for 1 days tuition on the correct use of the whip to improve his technique. The Stewards fined G.T.Lynch, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Sids Choice (GB), in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
