The Stewards interviewed M.J. Bolger, rider of Randalls Ur Poet, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that M.J. Bolger was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency and R10(3)(e) by hitting his mount other than down the shoulder or on the hind quarters

Having taken his good previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended M.J. Bolger for 1 raceday

S.W. Flanagan, rider of Slievenamon trained by Eric Larkin, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled during this race and was pulled up.

A novice hurdle race for four yrs old and upwards which, at entry, are rated 110 or less, also open to horses rated 111-120
Weights - 4-y-o 10st 2lb; 5-y-o 11st 1lb; 6-y-o and up 11st 2lb
Penalties - Performances before 1st February for every 1lb above the rating of 110 1lb extra; On or after 1st February for each hurdle race won 4lb extra; Horses that have not run three times over hurdles and/or do not have a published handicap hurdle rating may enter and run at the discretion of the handicapper provided their performances are rated 120 or less.
