The Stewards interviewed R.P. Cleary, rider of Caliso Bay, concerning the fact that he appeared to move across before reaching the marker poles. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered evidence from the rider, the Stewards were satisfied that R.P. Cleary was in breach of rule 211(a) by failing to keep a straight line until he had passed the marker poles and consequently severely cautioned him having taken his previous record into consideration. The Stewards interviewed C.D. Hayes, rider of Right First (GB), concerning the fact that he appeared to move across before reaching the marker poles. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered evidence from the rider, the Stewards were satisfied that C.D. Hayes was in breach of rule 211(a) by failing to keep a straight line until he had passed the marker poles and consequently severely cautioned him having taken his previous record into consideration. The Stewards enquired into an incident before the marker poles involving Caliso Bay, ridden by R.P. Cleary, placed fourth, So Sensible, ridden by R.P. Whelan, unplaced, Headlong, ridden by G.F. Carroll, unplaced, Affectionate Lady, ridden by L.F. Roche, unplaced and Right First (GB), ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed fifth, where it appeared that a number of runners received a check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental in nature and took no further action. The Stewards enquired into an incident early in the straight involving Go Placidly, ridden by C.R. King, unplaced, So Sensible, ridden by R.P. Whelan, unplaced, Bobby Jean, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, unplaced, Jackie Ellis, ridden by C.P. Hoban, unplaced and Affectionate Lady, ridden by L.F. Roche, unplaced. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was caused by L.F. Roche making a slight manoeuvre which caused a knock on effect and consequently cautioned him to ride with more care.
An extended handicap for three yrs old only (70 = 9st 10lb) Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 9st 10lb Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 70 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 10lb.
