The Stewards received a report from Mr. W. Fleming , Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that K.K. Hennessy , rider of Mr Soprano (GB) , weighed in at 1.2 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he had taken a drink after weighing out which may have accounted for the overweight on weighing-in. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the rider was in breach of Rule 231 and they therefore cautioned him having taken his good previous record into consideration. R. Coakley, rider of Volta Do Mar trained by Denis W. Cullen, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was checked at the two furlong pole. R.P. Cleary, rider of Its Harrys Girl trained by J.T.Gorman, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount had blood on the nose when pulling up. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Its Harrys Girl, trained by J.T.Gorman, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal have sustained an exercise-induced pulmonary haemorrage.
