An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong when the winner, Dutch Pursuit (IRE), ridden by Callum Rodriquez interfered with Shanghai Grace (GB), placed second, ridden by Callum Shepherd, which in turn interfered with Fiction Writer (USA), unplaced, ridden by Joe Fanning.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Dutch Pursuit (IRE)’s placing as Dutch Pursuit (IRE) had only edged marginally right causing slight interference to Shanghai Grace (GB) through intimidation, however, Shanghai Grace (GB) lost no momentum and at no stage did the rider of Shanghai Grace (GB) ever stop riding.
The interference was found to be accidental as Dutch Pursuit (IRE) had edged quickly right despite the rider’s best efforts.
The interference to Fiction Writer (USA) was caused by Shanghai Grace (GB) continuing to hang right away from the winner causing Fiction Writer (USA) to be crowded for room.
