Leaving the stalls, the winner, The Bell Conductor (IRE), swerved left-handed carrying Red Walls (GB), placed seventh, off its intended line causing North Wind (IRE), placed eighth, to be hampered which in turn resulted in Scale Force (GB), placed sixth, being badly crowded for racing room, whilst at the same time Mobarhin (IRE), placed fifth, jumped right-handed into the path of Not Now Zeb (IRE), placed third, which clipped its heel and stumbled before Mobarhin (IRE) continued to move right-handed onto Scale Force (GB) accentuating the extent of the interference already being suffered by that gelding, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of The Bell Conductor (IRE).
