Permission was given for STREAK LIGHTINING (IRE) to wear a red hood in the Parade Ring only and to go to post early.
Approaching 1 ½ furlongs out Mumcat (GB), placed fourth, shifted quickly right-handed into the path of the weakening Tickets (GB), unplaced, causing the rider of the gelding to take a slight check.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Mumcat (GB).
Approaching ½ furlong out Bin Hayyan (IRE), unplaced, lugged right-handed as the gelding moved into a legitimate gap giving a bump to Like A Lion (IRE), placed sixth, causing the gelding to become momentarily unbalanced.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of Like A Lion which finished sixth out of eight runners beaten 4 ½ lengths, was considered.
The representative of Tim Easterby could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.
Like A Lion was routine tested.
Following the race, Andrew Mullen reported that Tickets (GB), unplaced, briefly lost its action; the Veterinary reported that a post-race examination during routine of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
