Permission was given for C’EST NO MOUR (GER) to wear a hood in the Parade Ring only; for East Asia (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start; for Just In Time (GB) to be mounted in the chute and to go early to post and for Midrarr (IRE) to go early to post and the filly wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 1½ furlongs out involving C’EST NO MOUR (GER), placed fourth, ridden by Martin Harley; Just In Time (GB), unplaced, ridden by David Probert; Buriram (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Silvestre De Sousa and the winner, East Asia (IRE), ridden by William Buick.
The interference was found to be accidental as Midrarr (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Tom Marquand, which was racing just clear of the four runners, drifted slightly right-handed before being quickly corrected, forcing Buriram (IRE) slightly right for clear running.
As this happened, East Asia (IRE) followed Buriram (IRE) marginally right whilst looking for racing room and a combination of these two incidents resulted in Just In Time (GB) becoming short of room between Buriram (IRE) and C’EST NO MOUR (GER).
The effect of this was that Just In Time (GB) touched the hind quarters of C’EST NO MOUR (GER), resulting in that gelding moving left and forcing Probert to take a check off its heels.
