Permission was given for Madame Fenella (GB) to go early to post and be mounted on the chute and for Symbol of Hope (GB) to go early to post wearing a red hood and be mounted on the chute.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 4 furlongs out when Bluebell Time (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Trevor Whelan, interfered with Madame Fenella (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Joanna Mason.
Whelan was cautioned for careless riding as he shifted left-handed when insufficiently clear, before quickly correcting his mount, causing Mason to take a slight check on the rail.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after 2 incidents of interference, the first approaching the final furlong and the second approximately ½ furlong out, when the winner, Street Life (GB), ridden by Morgan Cole, interfered with Glasstrees (GB), placed second, ridden by Alistair Rawlinson.
Being a 7lb claimer, Cole was offered representation but declined.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Street Life (GB)’s placing as Glasstrees (GB) was carried right-handed off its intended line on both occasions for several strides, losing approximately ½ length in the process, before making strong headway to get within a nose of Street Life (GB) at the line.
The Stewards considered that the amount of ground lost by intimidation of a small filly was greater than that by which it was beaten.
They, therefore, revised the placings as follows: First: GLASSTRESS; Second: Street Life (GB); Third: Amasova (GB); Fourth: Symbol of Hope (GB).
The interference was found to be accidental as Street Life (GB) drifted right-handed for several strides, despite Cole’s best efforts to correct her mount, carrying Glasstrees (GB) off its intended line.
Following the race, Joanna Mason reported that Madame Fenella (GB), placed fifth, was short for room on the bend.
