The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr L. Walsh, that L.P. Gilligan, rider of In A Pinch, had weighed out with his body protector which was missing a crotch strap. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had misinformed the Clerk of the Scales when asked if he was wearing the required equipment. He added that he had arrived at the racecourse in good time but had to use the sauna to shed some weight and in rushing to weigh out he had not noticed that the crotch strap was missing. He confirmed that in attaching the crotch strap that he had weighed out at 147.9lbs. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that L.P. Gilligan was in breach of R10 (Body Protectors) and Rule 198(v) and therefore suspended him for 7 racedays having taken his clean previous record into consideration.
