Permission was given for Andapa (FR) to wear a hood in the Parade Ring only and Major Snugfit (GB) to go early to post.
A query was raised to consider why Jennie Candlish was running Cosheston (GB) here at Uttoxeter on going described as Good, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Uttoxeter on 16 June 2021 on ground with the same official description.
The representative of the trainer stated they had brought Cosheston (GB) to the course on 16 June 2021 with the intention of running but having walked the course on that occasion they were of the opinion that the ground was riding faster than described.
He added that with conditions, in their opinion, being slower on this occasion they were happy for the gelding to take its chance.
The winner, Andapa (FR), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Worcester on 20 June 2021 where the mare finished fifth of the eleven finishers, beaten by 22½ lengths.
Michael Roberts’ representative’s explanation that Andapa (FR) had jumped more fluently on this occasion, was noted and the mare was routine tested.
The performance of Bizerta (FR), which started favourite and finished unplaced, beaten by 63¾ lengths, was considered.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding shortly after the race failed to reveal any abnormalities and Sam Allwood’s explanation that Bizerta (FR) ran flat, was noted.
Following the race, Charlie Price reported that Lambs Lane (IRE), placed fifth, stumbled at the start and was slowly away; the Veterinary Officer reported that the gelding suffered an overreach on its left-fore.
