The Raceday Stewards interviewed W. Joyce, rider of Final Check, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had used his whip three times and had not used excessive force. Evidence was also heard from the IHRB Veterinary Officer who stated that the marks were minor and that a unrelated skin abrasion may have contributed to the marks. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, including photographic evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that W. Joyce was not in breach of Regulation 10 and they took no further action.
An extended handicap for three years old and upwards rated 47-65 Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won. Riders - Confined to Riders who have not ridden more than 10 winners under any N.H. Rules or Rules of Racing from 25th March, 2023 to 9th September, 2023 inclusive
