Paddy Mathers, the rider of Samphire Coast (GB), was slow to remove the blindfold.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Mathers’ explanation that the blindfold had become stuck on the gelding’s headgear and took a second attempt to remove was noted.
Following the race, David Probert reported that Espresso Freddo (IRE), placed sixth, was unruly in the stalls and subsequently slowly away and Edward Greatrex reported that Regulator (IRE), placed seventh, hung right-handed under pressure.
