An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line when the winner, DIVINE MESSENGER, ridden by Adam Kirby, interfered with BAN SHOOF, placed second, ridden by Hector Crouch. The Stewards considered that the interference had improved DIVINE MESSENGER's placing as the gelding had hung right-handed giving BAN SHOOF, which was finishing fast on the outside, a considerable bump taking it significantly off its intended line, with only a head between the two horses at the line. The placings were revised as follows: BAN SHOOF, first, DIVINE MESSENGER, second. The interference was found to be accidental as DIVINE MESSENGER had hung quickly and violently right- handed before being corrected by the rider.
