An enquiry was held to consider an incident at the 2 furlong marker when Rob Hornby, the rider of Villanelle (GB), was unseated, resulting in Fortultous (GB) being brought down and Ben Curtis unseated.
Kieran O'Neill, the rider of the winner, Bad Attitude (GB), and John Egan, the rider of Ivaquestion (IRE), placed third, were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, but Hornby and Curtis were unable to be interviewed owing to their injuries.
O’Neill was suspended for 12 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to shift left-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear of Villanelle (GB), causing the filly to clip heels, stumble and unseat Hornby, resulting in Fortultous (GB) being brought down and Curtis unseated, which in turn caused Ivaquestion (IRE) to be badly hampered.
Andrew Mullen, the rider of Camacho Man (IRE), placed fifth, was also present in the enquiry but found not to have been involved in the interference.
