Approximately two furlongs out Hot Desert (GB), placed fourth, which was hanging badly right-handed, shifted right despite the rider’s best efforts making contact with and unbalancing Ascraeus (GB), placed eighth.
After viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of Hot Desert (GB).
The winner, Sobriquet (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newcastle on 21 September 2021 where the filly finished twelfth of 14, beaten by 16 lengths.
The representative of Ed de Giles explained that the filly had benefitted from cut in the ground and the application of first time blinkers; his explanation was noted and Sobriquet (IRE) was routine tested.
