An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving the winner, Tommy Taylor (USA), ridden by Sam James and Whittle Le Woods (GB), placed second, ridden by Jason Watson.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Tommy Taylor (USA)’s placing as Whittle Le Woods (GB) had only been carried very slightly off its intended line approaching the finish line and was always being held by Tommy Taylor (USA) to be beaten a neck at the line.
The interference was found to be accidental in that James was taking reasonable steps to prevent Tommy Taylor (USA) drifting right-handed.
