Scattering (GB) wore ear plugs which were removed at the start.
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start when Harb (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Jim Crowley, interfered with Hodler (GER), placed third, ridden by Pat Cosgrave.
The interference was found to be accidental as Harb (GB) was racing greenly and shifted marginally left causing Cosgrave to have to take a slight check.
Approximately ½ furlong out, Harb (GB), placed fifth, become momentarily tight for room between Level Up (IRE), placed fourth, and Hodler (GER), placed third, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Level Up (IRE) or Hodler (GER).
The performance of Scattering (GB), which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
William Haggas’ explanation that the colt was unsuited by the going on this occasion, which was officially described as Soft, Heavy in places, but was changed to Soft after this race, and in his opinion was riding tacky, was noted.
Following the race, Pat Cosgrave reported that Hodler (GER), placed third, ran too free.
