Tim Easterby had obtained prior permission from the BHA to run Araka Li (IRE) partially shod.
The winner, Borodin (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Pontefract on 17 September 2020 where the gelding finished fifth of seven, beaten by 10¼ lengths.
Sam England’s explanation that Borodin (IRE) benefitted from the re-application of cheekpieces on this occasion, was noted.
The gelding was routine tested.
The performance of Fox Shinji (GB), which started favourite and finished seventh, was considered.
It was noted that the representative of Andrew Balding could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance other than Fox Shinji (GB) was never travelling on this occasion.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Monash (IRE), placed sixth, lost its right-hind shoe.
