An enquiry was held to consider the circumstances surrounding the jockey change in this race on Lothario (GB), trained by Dean Ivory.
The Clerk of the Scales, a Valet, the representative of Dean Ivory, and Robert Winston were interviewed.
The Clerk of the Scales reported that he had been informed by a representative of Dean Ivory that Robert Winston, who was originally declared to ride the gelding, was delayed in traffic and would not make it in time, and therefore actioned the change for Joey Haynes to ride Lothario (GB) in his place.
Winston explained that he had informed Ivory that he was unable to make it to Lingfield having been delayed in traffic en route from Nottingham.
He added that as the traffic had started to clear, his travelling companion had telephoned the Valet to let him know that Winston would be able to ride Lothario (GB) after all and the Valet had informed the Clerk of the Scales.
He further explained that the traffic had started to build up again and it became apparent he was not going to arrive in time, at which point Winston telephoned to say he would not arrive in time after all.
Their explanations were noted.
