Permission was given for Follow A Dream (USA) to wear a hood in the Parade Ring only.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Revamp (USA), ridden by Shane Kelly and trained by David Simcock, which was settled in rear and tenderly handled before coming with a strong run in the home straight, to finish fourth, beaten by 4¾ lengths.
The rider and the trainer’s representative were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated that his instructions were to get Revamp (USA) to settle, come with a smooth run and finish as close as possible.
He explained that the gelding took time to settle due to the slow early pace, but had done so as the field entered the final bend.
He added that he was pleased with the way Revamp (USA) was travelling but was unable to make a forward move round the bend until he found a run down the inner.
He felt the gelding was slow to pick up but once balanced ran on well through beaten horses, adding that Revamp (USA) would want a longer trip.
The trainer’s representative confirmed the instructions and was satisfied with the ride given, adding that the gelding, having been a breeze-up horse, is a buzzy sort and has been keen in his work at home.
