Langholm (IRE), drawn 7, anticipated the start and accelerated the gate at the same moment as the race had been started.
Being satisfied that it was not caused through a faulty action of the starting stalls, no further action was taken.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approximately 1 ½ furlongs out involving the winner, Crocodile Power (IRE), ridden by Dale Swift and Highjacked (GB), placed third, ridden by David Nolan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Crocodile Power (IRE)’s placing as the incident had occurred approximately 1 ½ furlongs out and the ground and momentum lost was less than the official margin of 1 ¼ lengths.
Swift was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear of Highjacked (GB) causing Nolan to take a check against the rail and deny the gelding the opportunity to challenge for second place.
Following the race, Rhys Elliot reported that Miss Rainbow (IRE), unplaced, was slowly away, David Nolan reported that Highjacked (GB), placed third, suffered interference approximately 1 ½ furlongs out and Ben Robinson reported that Travel Candy (IRE), unplaced, took a false step approximately 1 ½ furlongs out.
