Miss Lilly Pinchin, the rider of FOLLOW THE SWALLOW (IRE), placed second, was suspended for 13, days, on dates to be notified by the British Horseracing Authority, for using her whip above the permitted level from approaching the last fence and without giving the gelding time to respond after the last fence. Being a 7Ib claimer, Miss Pinchin was accompanied in the enquiry by the trainer's representative.
The winner, L'ES FREMANTLE (FR), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Nottingham on 31 October 2018 where the gelding finished tenth of thirteen, beaten by 14 lengths. Michael Chapman's explanation that the gelding seems to act at Market Rasen was noted. L'ES FREMANTLE (FR) was routine tested.
