An enquiry was held to consider why Tim Easterby was running Arletta Star (GB) here at Haydock Park on going described as Good to Firm, Good in places, having declared the filly a non-runner at Redcar on 21 July 2019 on ground with the same official description.
The representative of the trainer stated that Arletta Star (GB) had been declared on Good ground which had subsequently quickened to Good to Firm, Good in places on the day of the race and although the trainer had reservations the owner was keen that the filly take her chance on this occasion.
Following the race, Connor Murtagh reported that Alexandrakollontai (IRE), placed eighth, jumped awkwardly from the stalls and was never travelling thereafter and Ben Curtis reported that Lady Lizzy (GB), which started second favourite and finished fifth, hung left-handed under pressure.
