An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, Dusky Prince (IRE), ridden by Harry Davies and Primo's Comet (GB), placed second, ridden by Paul Mulrennan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Dusky Prince (IRE)’s placing as Mulrennan only had to take a slight check, losing little momentum in the process, and with the winning distance being a neck at the line the Stewards were unable to be satisfied that PRIMO’S COMET would have finished ahead of Dusky Prince (IRE) with a clear run.
Davies was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he continued to use his whip in his right-hand after his mount had already shown a tendency to drift left-handed away from the whip.
